SUMMARY:Research in Aging: Dispelling Myths and Building Bridges
DESCRIPTION:ACT Director\, Kim Sawchuk\, will give a keynote presentation entitled\, “A Digital Solution? : Public consultations and the age-friendly city agenda.” \nACT researcher\, Barbara Marshall\, will present “Romancing ‘successful aging’: gender\, (hetero)sexuality and dilemmas of difference.” \nEmerging scholars\, Constance Lafontaine and Lisa F. Carver will also present. \nMore information: \nThis one-day symposium is sponsored by the Dean’s Office\, Faculty of Arts and Science\, Queen’s University. \nFaculty of Arts and Science Dean\, Barbara Crow PhD is hosting this symposium to engage researchers and community members in a discussion around the experiences and needs of older adults in the first half of the twenty-first century. \nParticipants will include faculty\, undergraduate and graduate students\, post-doctoral scholars from Queen’s University\, Trent University and Concordia University. The entire day is open to the public. An indigenous elder has been invited to open the symposium which will include academic presentations and micro-presentations by emerging scholars. Student posters will be on display throughout the day. \nLisa F.
