SUMMARY:ACT Lunch and Learn: Myriam Durocher & Maude Gauthier
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for an ACT Lunch and Learn on Wednesday May 10th from 12:30-1:30pm\, located at 1590 Docteur Penfield\, 4th floor conference room (SB Building). Myriam Durocher\, ACT Research Assistant\, and Maude Gauthier\, ACT Affiliate Researcher\, will be conducting a presentation called The creation of a food blog by and for elders: A political gesture in response to the pressure to “age well”. \nThe purpose of their presentation is to present the results of their research project about the constitution of a foodblog by RECAA\, a community partner of ACT. Through participative observations that took place over a year\, they have observed three political dimensions of the project: a) elder’s inclusion in a digital society with the acquisition of digital skills\, b) the increased visibility of the group and its mandate and c) a collective engagement through socialisation. Throughout their project\, food and the injunction to “age well” have been reconfigured in a way that tends to collectivize ageing processes that are otherwise being individualized through the normative conception of “successful ageing”.
