Dr. Kim Sawchuk and Dr. Mireia Fernandez-Ardèvol present at the 4th ECC 2012

Dr. Kim Sawchuk and Dr. Mireia Fernandez-Ardèvol, two members of the Active Ageing Network, are presenting papers at the 4th European Communication Conference in Istanbul, Turkey.  The theme of the 2012 conference is “Social Media and Global Voices.”  The conference is organized by the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA), the Turkish Communication Research Association (ILAD), with Istanbul Bilgi University.  The conference takes place from October 24th to October 27th, 2012.

Giuliana Cucinelli presents her work “AddressKnown: Working with Geolocation Based Storytelling”

Giuliana Cucinelli, a member of the Active Ageing team, will present her research on the Park Extension project, entitled “AddressKnown: Working with Geolocation Based Storytelling,” at the International Institute for Critical Pedagogy and Transformative Leadership Annual Conference.  The conference will take place in Noto, Sicily (Italy) from October 14th-18th, 2012.

Dr. Kim Sawchuk and Dr. Line Grenier, two members of the Active Ageing Network, are presenting papers at the “Crossroads 2012” conference in Paris, France.  The conference takes place from July 2nd to July 6th, 2012. Their panel is entitled “Ageing Cultural Studies.”

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is held in June each year. The first World Elder Abuse Awareness Day was organized by the International Network for the Prevention for Elder Abuse (INPEA) in 2006.The day serves as a call to action for individuals, organizations and communities to raise awareness about abuse, neglect and exploitation of older people.
