Pedro Jacobetty is a sociologist currently working as a researcher at the Open University of Catalonia. His research and publications revolve around the areas of social theory, communication, media and technology, knowledge and education, digital culture, and social change. His dissertation tried to understand the relationship between digital networks, meaning production and social collectives in the context of anonymous internet cultures. More specifically, it focused on how collaborative signification and representation digital practices under anonymity produced critical and reflexive meta-commentary about online collectives that are at the core of contemporary global social forms.
He holds a PhD (Open University of Catalonia) and a BS and MSc (Lisbon University Institute) in Sociology, having experience with both qualitative and quantitative research methods. In the context of the ACT project, Pedro worked as research assistant at the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3) of the Open University of Catalonia (UOC), under the direction of Dr. Mireia Fernández-Ardèvol.
